CHESS CLASS FLYERS
A GAME AS OLD AS TIME
I first learned to play chess when I was around 7 years old. I learned from my uncle and grandfather in India and played a lot there, but when I came back to the United States, I kind of stopped playing. I still understood how to play and played every once in a while against my dad or one of my friends, but for the most part, I forgot how to play. However, in the summer of 2022, I rediscovered chess through Chess.com, and have been playing online every day since. It was well timed because, at the beginning of 2023, chess's popularity boomed. I was able to talk about chess with my friends and play against them. I've played in a few chess competitions at the Sai Baba Temple in Groton, Massachusetts, along with several online Lichess tournaments. I've also taught chess classes during the summer of 2023 to elementary and middle schoolers at the Hamilton Wenham Public Library. As of writing this, my rapid rating is around 1000.Â
