WHY I LOVE PINGREE
I've gone to Pingree for my high school career and I've loved it! The community there is incredible and the friends that I've made will last past my time there. I play soccer and tennis there and do robotics in the winter, all of which I love. I've also been on the robotics team and have had plenty of practice building with metal, which has been a lot of fun. At Pingree, I started two clubs with two of my friends. One is where one of my friends and I can teach people how to solve Rubik's Cubes, predictably called Rubik's Cube Club. The other one is the Writing Club, where people can express themselves through their creative writing. I have pictures of both of these below. I'm also a member of the Asian Student Alliance, an affinity space for students who identify as Asian or Asian-American. Along with these clubs, I was part of the Pingree Model UN team, which I added a picture of from a meet at St. John's Prep. I'm also a Head Tour Guide at the school, which means I can share my experiences at the school with prospective students, something that I think is the most important part of the application process. As I said before, I've been part of the Pingree Soccer, Tennis, and Robotics teams. Along with that, this is going to be my first year playing basketball for the school, and while I am going to be playing it in the winter, I plan to still help out the Robotics team whenever I can. For some reason, the robotics team doesn't take photos, maybe because we're all camera-shy, but my soccer and tennis photos are below, along with the photo of the robot we built in my freshman year, which is not as camera-shy. I've also organized a volunteering opportunity at Pingree. On October 28th, 2023, 9 Pingree students helped Habitat for Humanity, an organization you can read more about on my Architecture page, by building affordable housing for local residents. This is something I did over the summer and enjoyed, so I thought to provide an opportunity for other students to have the same experience. Hopefully, I can organize more opportunities like this in the future, but maybe not in the winter, cause it's freaking cold here.

In my few years at Pingree, I've gotten on the High Honor Roll every single trimester. The link is to the right. I've even been congratulated by our State Senator, Bruce Tarr, for my accomplishment.
MAKERSPACE
The Makerspace is one of my favorite places on campus, and you can see my profile on the Makerspace website to the left, along with a link to the Pingree Makerspace website itself below if you're interested. It has a 3D printer, a poster printer, a t-shirt press, and a button maker. I've also used the 3D printer to make a little store in an already existing thrift store, where students and teachers can fill out an order form for a custom 3D Print. They pick up their print and pay at the thrift store, called the Vault. The revenue goes to a bunch of charities, and you can see a picture of the store below.

MY ROLES AT PINGREE
I have served several roles in my time at Pingree on top of being a Makerspace tutor, which you've already read about. I've listed some of my other roles below:
HEAD TOUR GUIDE
During the admissions season, Pingree gets hundreds of families and students to tour the school. I am one of the people who tour them, but I'm also a head tour guide. We organize the other tour guides, especially during events like the open houses and revisting days, where dozens of people come in at once.
AI LEADER
During my senior year, I exposed the Pingree community as much as I could to the field of AI, including leading an AI club where we play games or do activites powered by AI. I also presented at an AI Teach-In, where attendees could create AI versions of themselves they could talk to like a face-to-face conversation.
PEER ADVISOR
During the summer, the incoming freshman class has several events to get themselves acquainted with the school such as orientation and school dinners. As a peer advisor, I served as a mentor to the students and helped at these summer events. I finished my last summer as a Peer Advisor in 2024.
PEGASUS EDITOR
During my junior and senior year, I helped edit the Pegasus Literary Magazine, which features student art and writing works. I also submitted three short stories to the magazine. We were in charge of accepting or rejecting submissions and formatting the pieces that did get accepted.
VOLUNTEERING
Pingree has several volunteering opportunities in which I have involved myself. From charities like Rosie's Place to raising awareness for gun violence. I've tried to help my community whenever the opportunity arises, and Pingree has allowed me to do that more easily and frequently.
AI TOUR GUIDE DEVELOPER
Going along with my advocacy for AI, at the end of my junior year, I built out an AI tour guide for prospective students and families when they came into Pingree. It will live on the new Pingree website after they've deployed it and will hopefully be a new way for students to ask questions about the school.
SENIOR PROJECTS
One of the graduation requirements for Pingree is that we complete a senior project over the course of two weeks in May. For my senior project, I partnered with my friend to create real-life firebending. Both of us love the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender, and were inspired by the martial arts behind the show. We started by 3D printing a shell around a canister of butane. We then assembled a velcro system so that when the user clenches their hand, the butane nozzle compresses against the 3D print that sprays it out. Along with that, we used an igniter powered by a piezoelectric crystal that when a button is pressed, the crystal releases an electric signal that travels up a wire and creates a spark. By timing it correctly, the spark ignites the propelled butane and creates a burst of fire that's seemingly controlled by one punch, just like what is seen on the show. To the right is a picture of my friend using it one night during our final testing. Below is a link to a Canva presentation that has further information on the research and design phases of our project.
GRADUATION
After four years of Pingree, the day I had never expected to come had arrived. I reached my graduation, or as Pingree calls it, commencement. I had the honor of giving the welcome speech to the ceremony, along with one of my fellow students, as voted on by my fellow seniors and teachers. After a week of senior events, including senior projects, prom and senior tributes, I was able to walk across the Hedge Garden of Pingree's lawn and accept my diploma from my head of school and President of the board of trustees. Even though we don't have caps and gowns, we couldn't help but throw our metaphorical hats in celebration.
