KUMON
I've tutored at KUMON since the summer of 2021. I work there for varying hours because of school and sports, but in the summer, I work 4 hours every Monday and Thursday. At KUMON, I tutor kids between the ages of 6 and 16, which is obviously a big range, but the kids often just need guidance and answers to their questions, which makes it easier for me. The job's a lot of fun, even if the kids can be difficult sometimes.
CROSBYS
Over the summer of 2023, I worked at Crosby's every Friday and Saturday for 4 hours a day. Crosby's allowed me to meet and connect with people in my local community while also making a little bit of money on the side. I believe that everybody should work a service job like this, just so they appreciate the work that those people put in and be more understanding and empathetic towards them when they make any mistakes.
SUMMER CAMPS
Over the years, I've spent my summers volunteering to be a counselor and counselor in training at many of the summer camps that I went to as a kid. My favorite was Camp Invention, where I spent a couple of summers helping kids build cardboard prototypes of inventions. I was also a C.I.T. at Patton Park summer camp for a year when my sister went there after doing the camp for many years myself.
CAR INVENTORY
A few weekends during the winter, my friend offered me a job to count car parts at various car dealerships. I agreed because I would get some extra money while also hanging out with some of my buddies. We've worked at car dealerships in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for big brands like Mercedes, Audi, and Mazda. While it is repetitive, mind-numbing work, I still had a lot of fun with my friends. along with decent pay.
STOCKS
It's not really work, but I've invested a lot of money in stocks because it was a good way to make passive income. I have shares in several large companies, like Microsoft and Google, some government bonds, and some smaller companies like CAVA and Plug Power. I've made some pretty good money too, nothing crazy, but a decent amount given that I'm a student that didn't have much stock experience beforehand.
WENHAM MUSEUM
Along with creating a Harry Potter museum exhibit and the Icelandic Book Flood, I've worked with the local Wenham Museum to create a walking tour of Wenham, drafting the information blurbs that play whenever somebody buys the tour and makes a stop, which was a cool way to build my writing skill and my understanding of the town. I learned some cool history tidbits I could use in Jeopardy someday.
MY OVERALL WORK EXPERIENCE
As you can see, I have a lot of work experience in various fields and in various positions. Throughout these jobs, I've learned things that I can use throughout my entire life, whether it be communication and teaching skills, analysis and inferences of the stock market, and even how to count as efficiently and accurately as possible, something I never thought I'd actually need to learn, but here we are. While getting paid is nowhere near the reason why I do the majority of these jobs, it does help. In fact, the main reason I started to work was so I could buy my own car. I finally managed to save enough money by the fall of my junior year to buy my own car, a 2012 Nissan Rogue. I named it Nancy and threw a Celtics sticker on her bumper as soon as I got her, which I'm realizing as I write this that you can't see. However, even though I managed to achieve that goal, I'm still open to work and internships, paid or unpaid. Below I've attached my resume again.
