Part of Pingree's graduation requirement is that all seniors have to complete a senior projects that is a culmination of both what they've learned at Pingree over the years as well as their interests. This comes together in a senior project showcase where the entire class shows off what they've been doing. For my senior project, my friend Clifford and I decided to create Firebending in real life. We both loved Avatar: The Last Airbender as a kid, and wanted to bring that to real life, something we had both been dreaming about since we both watched the show. We were able to get it to work really well using butane and a velcro propulsion system.
After four years at Pingree, I was finally able to attend Pingree's Commencement ceremony. I had the honor of giving the welcoming speech of the ceremony along with another girl from my class, as voted on by the faculty and my fellow seniors. After individual photos, group portraits, I was awarded my diploma with highest distinction and Cum Laude. Its a strange feeling to be considered a high school graduate, especially when I thought it was a day that would never come. I mean, being called the class of 2025 was always such a farway date, but now that it has arrived, it feels like it went by way too quickly.
